This was one of the first dishes I ever made for Zach when we first started dating. It was about 14 years ago and I really wanted to impress him with my famous Honey Glazed Salmon recipe. Let’s just say things didn’t go as planned.
I had the recipe written on a scrap piece of paper, and at the time I was not nearly as confident in my cooking skills as I am now. I was following recipes to a T, and for whatever reason I read the measurement of 1/2 cup orange juice as 2 cups. Oy. Here is the Honey Salmon Marinade Recipe.
I thought the sauce looked too watery but wasn’t sure why and basically ended up serving him a piece of salmon that was swimming in orange juice! Yeah he ate it, but for the life of him could not figure out why I was so excited to make this recipe. It was gross but…
HE MARRIED ME ANYWAY! And good thing because I never messed it up again, and it’s become one of our family favorites ever since.

There are many different types of salmon you can use.My favorite is Scottish or Atlantic! These are both mild buttery in flavor.

Description
This honey glazed salmon is packed with flavor including fresh ginger, shallot, and garlic. The sauce is top notch and ready to impress!
Ingredients
- 1 pound salmon
For the sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons minced shallot
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place salmon in a baking dish and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan heat the olive oil over medium/low heat. Add the shallot, ginger and garlic, and cook for 5 minutes until wilted, stirring occasionally.
- Add the orange juice, molasses, ketchup, honey, salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Keep the sauce at a low rolling boil for 2-3 minutes, stirring often.
- Reduce the heat and simmer the sauce for about 5 minutes until it begins to thicken, stirring occasionally.
- Pour the sauce over the salmon and bake for about 20-25 minutes. Spoon sauce over salmon again about half way through baking.
Notes
*Use any leftover salmon to top over a salad the next day!
*This sauce makes extra, enough for about 1 1/2 -2 pounds of fish. So you can either make more fish, or save the extra sauce and use it to serve over chicken or meat later in the week!

This was a huge hit in a house full of picky eaters! I wasn’t able to find ginger at the store, so unfortunately I had to omit it, and I’m sure it would have tasted even better with it. But my husband, who doesn’t love salmon or sauces, went back for thirds!

It had a bit too much ginger for my taste and made too much sauce, but I will definitely make again with a few tweaks to fit our taste buds. Delicious and simple. My one year old will not touch salmon usually but after I drizzled some extra sauce on his, he ate it! The sweetness was just the thing to help my partner enjoy it more too (not a big salmon fan). Oh and I loved it!

Loved this recipe! In fact my whole family loved this recipe! It was so so good and we canāt wait to make it again. I didnāt have orange juice, fresh ginger or molasses but substituted with juice from a couple of mandarins, ground ginger and maple syrup.

Good recipe to change up my usual salmon with lemon. The sauce is quick and it add some sweetness to the dish. I will definitely make this again šš¼
Simple but so much flavor! Swapped the molasses for a few dashes of coconut aminos and it was still spot on. Paired with some steamed broccoli and it was a nice balance of flavor on the plate.

This salmon dish is easy and delicious! Kid approved also! I more than doubled the garlic by accident but it was still delicious and who doesnāt like extra garlic? This recipe was easy to make and both sweet and savory! My first time cooking with molasses also! I served it with crispy smashed potatoes and mashed cauliflower.

This sauce is the bomb, and I’m all about sauces. I didn’t have molasses, so I substituted 3 Tablespoons of brown sugar. Also, I’m very excited because this was my first time buying and cooking with shallots, and it came out delicious!

Really enjoyed the recipe!
It was a little bit on the sweet side, so we added a bunch of freshly squeezed lemon (but really, we love lemon, so it probably would have been added anyway). I think next time I’ll try a touch less molasses, and add in some lemon juice to the simmer pot stage. I also took ours out of the oven at 18 minutes, and probably could have even only done 15 minutes (it was 1 3/4lbs of wild caught salmon, and the filets were on the thinner side).
Served ours with Ginger Jasmine Rice (jasmine rice cooked with a few extra planks from the fresh ginger), steamed broccoli, and topped with some scallions.

For a family that doesnāt eat a lot of salmon, I was very excited to try this! Fish intimidates me, but the sauce just sounded so good we had to give it a go. It was very yummy! I used a regular onion because I didnāt have shallots. It was very flavorful and Im excited I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! My only regret is that I had 3 smaller salmon fillets, and I think I baked it a bit too long… still delish, but lesson learned!

This salmon dish was quick and easy to prepare (used pre-chopped frozen garlic and ginger to speed things along), and absolutely delicious paired with Cupcakes And Coffee Breaks Coconut Rice and some roasted broccoli. This will definitely become a staple in our house!

My husband and I loved this recipe. We eat a lot of salmon but typically just do s&p and pop it in the air fryer for a couple minutes. This was so flavorful and easy to prep, especially for a week night. We really enjoyed the sweetness and my husband added rep pepper flakes to give his a little kick. I overcooked my salmon a little because it was on the thin side so I would recommend to start checking at 15 minutes.
Love the addition of red pepper flakes for a little sweet and spicy!

This was delicious! I forgot to get orange juice at the store so subbed in lemon juice. Served the fish over rice with a side of asparagus. The sauce couldn’t be easier to make! It was sweet and tangy and definitely a new addition to my salmon recipes.

This recipe was delicious. My sauce didnāt thicken in the sauce pot so donāt worry if yours doesnāt – it turns out fine in the oven. I wish I had made more rice for leftovers. This would be a perfect meal prep recipe for a few bento box lunches!

Laney, I see why Zach married you after this recipe! It was great. Super kiddo friendly. I served it with coconut rice and roasted baby cauliflower. I did make a few subs: no molasses, add coconut aminos. I used fresh blood oranges for the juice and marinated red onions for the shallot. WINNER!

Sooo sweet and yummy! Salmon is always so touchy and easily over cooked. But this recipe was super fool proof and came out perfect!
I didn’t have molasses on hand, so instead I melted some brown sugar and maple syrup in the microwave and used that in place of it, turned out maybeee a little thinner than it was supposed to, but delicious nonetheless!
